…Studying Yakut nature together

Educational research project Scientific summer online joins children and adults and is based on knowledge integration in biology, physics, geography, environmental studies and information technologies.
The project is initiated by the Center for Creative Development and Humanitarian Education, Olekminsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and is implemented in partnership with the Junior Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The first season of the project took place from June 10 to October 10, 2020. (see the project participants map).
Participating in the project, schoolchildren learned more about flora and fauna of their area, mastered the skills of independent research using scientific methods like observation, measurement, herbarization, compiling entomological collections, mapping.
Project goal is
enhancing students’ educational research in natural sciences, teaching field research methods and data processing, developing meta-subject competencies through independent research and study the nature of their locality.
Project objectives
- To develop united children and adults research community for joint local nature study;
- To teach students methods of field research and data processing;
- To determine specific features of natural ecosystems state in different areas of Yakutia;
- To enhance learning environment for young researchers, forms of distance communication and networking;
- To develop students research skills, digital literacy and technology skills;
- To provide the opportunity to learn more about research in different natural sciences areas for possible future professional choices and get a teamwork experience.
The target group of the project: students of urban and rural schools, supplementary education centers; teachers, parents.
Scientific summer online 2020 - First season results
80 research projects defended online. 50 projects won first, second and third degree diplomas, 30 projects won nominations.
22 students projects were recommended to participate in Republican scientific conference-competition of young researchers named after V.P. Larionov “Innikige Hardy – Professor V.P. Larionov "A Step into the Future" Science Fair,
11 projects won diplomas of the Step into the Future Republican scientific conference
93% became winners of the municipal stage of the "Step into the Future” conference;
10 participants became winners of the All-Russian competition "Exploring Russia and the world together with the Russian Geographical Society".
A number of research projects became participants and winners of the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Horizons of Discovery", Scientific and Practical Conference named after N.I. Lobachevsky, Skryabin Readings, the interregional conference.
Scientific summer online experience was presented at the meeting with the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) A.S. Nikolaev, at the All-Russian videoconference "Kaliningrad - Kamchatka", at the All-Russian Best Education Practices competition.
